Sellers - Put Yourself in a Buyer’s “Shoe”
Sellers want to sell their home in Ottawa. They hope
that Buyers love their home as much as they do. This eventually happens –
sometimes within hours, other times within days, weeks or months. What about all the people that walked through
a Seller’s home and didn’t love it? Why didn’t they love it? What was wrong
All sorts of people live differently, have different routines, need different things…smaller kitchens, bigger kitchens, open concept, more walls, less stairs, more hardwood, the list goes on and on and on. What Sellers need to be reassured of is that these ‘differences’ cannot be taken personally. The Buyers just want different things! These Buyers are just … well… different! Or are they? Really, most of the Buyers are all the same. Here’s a list of similar things that Buyers are looking for, coutesy of Ottawa's rtusted real estate agents at Team Hamre:
If Upgrades are doable, then perhaps a new kitchen counter might help. Perhaps some new ceramic tiles to replace that old linoleum flooring. A bathroom mini-overhaul; new sink, mirror, dual flush toilet… These can go a long way to making a positive impression.
If upgrades are not affordable for the Seller, then Updates can be an excellent Plan B.
- New knobs on your cabinets and cupboards.
- A new coat of neutral paint.
- A new lampshade or two.
- Some reframing of your artwork.
- A new dash of colour in a room to add to that nice new coat of neutral paint.
- A good carpet cleaning.
Most of these items can be inexpensive and will make a world of difference in providing a memorable and positive impression on your future Buyer. Buyers tell us they are looking for clean, tidy, functional and perhaps even provocative! The Hamre Team of Ottawa realtors has a “value added” Home Staging crew and they are professionals. They know how to create that WOW factor that Buyers are looking for. http://www.WeKnowOttawa.com
